If you have a vaulted ceiling rather than placing crown up the angle try this approach where we placed a three part build up level around the room, bringing it down to a more human scale.

If you have older cabinets, like these we suggested using a larger then normal crown. They then painted the cabinets and we put on new hinges for them and they looked great!
